Did you know that the gates of heaven are each a giant pearl? (See Revelation 21:21). Now we know where pearls come from, and in all the world, there aren’t any oysters big enough to make a gate. So I wonder… pearls are made by irritants – a rock or pebble causes pain in the oyster’s innards, so the oyster produces a fix – layer after layer it develops the pearl.

This last Sunday, my pastor used an illustration. He showed boats – the first was a beached boat. After that my memory gets fuzzy because I was focused on that beached boat. Many of you know that the last few years have been relatively fruitless for me. Whereas I put in a lot of work on the homefront – with three primary family deaths in 2.5 years – my ministry life has been almost nonexistent.
