For Want of a Knife

Swiss Army Classic SD by Victorinox
I have misplaced the Swiss Army pen knife which I have carried for years.

Stop the universe.

Now for those of you who are not knife addicts, let me note that the Swiss Army pen knife is one of the world's greatest inventions. The version I prefer has a blade, scissors, file, tweezers, and a tooth pick. Basic but invaluable. Own one for a week and you'll be surprised at how handy it is.

I say that it is misplaced rather than lost because I have not given up hope. There are some possible places where it could have been dropped; the most likely being my son's car which is compact and closer to the ground. Instead of my traditional grand exit I had to adopt a badger crawl and then leap up as if the aberration were normal.

That is my prime suspect.

As I write this, I'm calculating how long I can go without the knife.

Not long at all is the answer.

Perhaps I could borrow my brother's switchblade.

That's another story.
