One of the only buildings spared during allied bombing during World War Two, this chateau was constructed after 900. Talk about history. As I sat upon the sentry wall, I thought about how many different scenes had played out on the streets below over the centuries! From your vantage point, what are you seeing these days?

From the American Cemetery, near Omaha Beach

Three times this week I visited the American Cemetery, before, on and after the 67th anniversary of the Allied Invasion on and behind the beaches of Northern France. Today, I will drive back toward Paris, with notes, ideas, pictures and videos to begin to piece this trip together. As I sip on the last drops of French-pressed coffee (here as the only guest of a magnificent B&B) I am contemplating my own next steps.

Normandy, France - reflecting on 67 years of l'histoire

More to come, but please know that right now I'm really wondering about a lot of things. Here, at Normandy, for the 67th Anniversary of D-Day has me seeing and connecting things in completely new ways. I'm asking questions: 1) What constitutes a "hard day" in my world? 2) Who, really, do I trust with everything I've got? 3) Who, REALLY, would do anything to help me?
