Have you ever tried changing a behavior and no one noticed you were different? It’s not uncommon. Jim was a “hands-on boss.” He had high standards and his team performed well. However, they depended on him for almost all decisions, and as a result he worked long hours and on weekends. The eye-opener came when he missed an important baseball game where his son scored the winning run.

Dan does not remember the accident, although he was later told they found his truck down a steep ravine wrapped around a tree. He has a fuzzy recollection of the ride in the helicopter. But he does not remember the EMT folks who saved his life at the scene by inserting a tube into his collapsed lung. Nor does he remember the emergency surgery at the hospital to repair his shattered hip, save his damaged eye, and set his broken hand.

It’s cold here. It’s been a week since we lost electric power in the small towns of central Connecticut. Last Saturday we were caught by a freak storm that dumped eight inches of heavy wet snow. The beautiful trees, still sporting their fall foliage, held the heavy snow on their leafy branches until they could bear the weight no longer and snapped.
