In our recent GUTSY WOMEN LEADERS retreat I showed a video of Isabel Allende when she was a presenter at a TED conference. She is one of my favorite authors; her novels are filled with the depth of what life is all about; love, sorrow, misunderstandings, and the courage to change. She mentions a conversation she had with her daughter who stated emphatically that feminism is old, stale, and no longer valid.

Guest Post by Amber Little. Listening seems like a pretty basic skill that doesn’t take much thought. If we can hear, we can listen, right? Wrong. Hearing and listening are two very different things. What gets me about listening is that we’ve had very little formal instruction on effective listening, yet we spend plenty of time training to effectively read, write and speak… and it’s one of the most important skills you will need to be successful.
