If you shout, they won’t come…

If you shout, they won’t come…

Getting a card from someone at a conference is not the same as getting their permission to add them to your mailing list. Stealing attention usually fails

When someone adds me to their list without my permission, I simply smile, mark the email as spam and move on. Sometimes I try to unsubscribe. But that’s not always easy. For example, this company makes it look like unsubscribing is a super-sophisticated rocket science.

When you click on the unsubscribe link, it sends me to a page where I have to input the email address again. Then there is an assumption that I was trying to contact them and it shows that someone will be in touch with me about my request?????

Funny thing is – this is request for them to go away. They will be in touch with me to discuss about going away 🙂

The world of marketing has moved on from shouting.

When you shout, you will affect the signal-to-noise ratio – in a negative fashion.

When you shout, you will make the people with the signal shine brighter.

When you shout, you will show that you are desperate.

When you shout, you will show that you are clueless about how things are done today.

When you shout, You will be announcing to the world that you don’t care about other’s time. Just yours.

When you shout, you let the world know that you want it easy. Building a relationship is hard work but you don’t want to spend time on it. You simply want to shout and expect others to listen to you.

Always remember:

If you shout, they won’t come.

Have a great week ahead.
