We hear CEOs being analysed as leaders of one type or other. Is it our British way to over analyse things to understand inorder to predict the outcome of future or American way to brand CEOs with a style so they don’t act out of the grove. Human instincts grows and matures.

I saw one of them last week at the World Business Forum (#wbf10 on Twitter) in New York – former General Electric CEO Jack Welch. He had quite the command of the audience, answering questions with searing honesty and with a flair only possessed by the charismatic. Who are these people? The charismatic leaders.

The best illustration I can offer came from one of the speakers, the CEO of Kraft Foods, Irene Rosenfeld. The 2nd Day speakers, particularly in the afternoon sessions, made it clear to me that a lot of effective leadership practice is hiding in plain sight. That is, sometimes we go too deep in searching for answers.
