I'll be back a day or two next week with some ideas on how to use a model I call the Life GPS® that will help you hit the ground running in 2011. Not sure what to expect in 2011, and it's a bit scary and I'm getting a lot of anxiety. Hopefully something good will come in 2011.

It’s a guidebook for new Members of Congress and provides a step by step plan for getting up to speed quickly. Set strategic goals and use them to guide critical early decisions such as budgeting and staffing. There’s a lot of sound advice there. So, those are some basic first steps.

There must have been some glitch in the succession plan that got you onto this team. The goal is to get through that period as quickly as possible so you can confidently do what you’re expected to do. Your goal should be to form some outside-in impressions.

It's much easier to yell and blame and be random than it is to grow and learn and plan. As far as why people act this way, it's pure laziness.

That picture represents your goals for the event. If you’re clear on the goals, you’ll be able to be more creative and flexible about the different ways to reach them. You don’t want to be walking in 5 or 10 minutes before you’re scheduled to start speaking and find that nothing you had planned around room setup is going to work.

Yes, Luis Urzua is organizing work assignments for the crew, assisting with the plan to get out of the mine and ensuring that no one eats a meal until everyone’s food has been sent down the shaft.
