Stop Living In Fear

When fear rules your life

The last couple of years of my life has been filled with fear. It all started with our dog Zane.

He was a great boy but he had a mean streak to him. One that led to a lot of fear in our lives.

Fear will control you

Over the course of his short life, Zane would snap. By snapping, I mean he would turn on us and bite us. There were multiple times this happened over the years we owned him.

While we loved him, we also feared he would become violent. One day he did and that was the day we made the decision we would have to put him down.

Then, for the next 3 years, we lived with the fear we would lose our other dog Leviticus to old age. We lost Leviticus almost a year ago.

Those years were filled with fear.

Fear of being attacked. Fear of losing a beloved pet.

Looking back, I’m not sure how I lived with so much fear in my life. Though I can see now how much this fear held me back.

What Fear Does

Fear holds us in a death grip. We’re told our lives need to be put on hold for whatever tragedy is coming next. Even if we don’t know what’s around the corner.

I passed up opportunities to go places because I was afraid Leviticus would pass away while I was gone. I avoided having people over because I was afraid Zane might bite someone.

Fear held me in a constant state of worry.

Fear will do the same to you. When you let fear become the ruling factor of your life, you become paralyzed from living the life you were created to live.

And you can’t live your life that way. You have to live a life which honors your calling and purpose.

Stop Living In Fear

We lost Leviticus one month after we brought Lok home. Since we lost him, I’ve learned much. A lot of the learning is due to Lok.

While I lived in fear we would lose Leviticus, I’m learning to live in awe of what Lok can do.

Lok has a blast running off leash. He comes when he’s called. And he has a full life ahead of him.

There’s no boogeyman around the corner. There’s no reason to live in a constant state of fear.

Whether you’re fearful your business is going to fail, you’re going to lose a loved one, or some other fear… Re-evaluate why you’re fearful.

You’ll often see there’s no reason to be fearful. You’ve created a reason to worry when the time isn’t right.

Stop living in fear. Live life.
