Would you believe I just figured out yesterday that Thanksgiving is next week? With the holidays in full swing, sometimes it is easy to get buried in our lists and worries while losing the big picture. Ephesians 4:17-32 meet us perfectly right before the holidays. In this section of scripture, Paul is talking to the Ephesians about living like a person who is a follower of Jesus.

What is your habit?

Occasionally, someone is defined by the big things in life. One heroic act can define how people see you. However, the definition that counts is on the inside. That one heroic act was defined by the habit of stepping up and facing one’s fears. On Monday’s this month, I have been looking at life shaping (particularly the kind that makes our bodies work better).

Thankful for dirt?

dusty vents add dust to your house! Last week, we had the annual service to our furnace. Mr. Furnace guy told me that our whole system had to be vacuumed out. (cha-ching). I made the appointment, and Mr. Vacuum man came out yesterday. I was prepared for a morning of noise. I almost forgot to uncover the vents – like the one under my dresser, which is huge.

One day to be selfish

Do you ever want that? Just one day to be selfish, whatever that means? Some days you want a simple bubble bath. Other times, you want a day to catch up on your shows. Maybe you just want quiet. My “quiet day” would preclude my kids making cookies and listening to Christmas music. It would avoid trips to the top of the pantry for cookie cutters, and trips to the basement for laundry and to store the ice rings for tomorrow.

What color is your food?

Happy Monday! I am now about 10 days into the second half of my life. I’ve been using that android app Noom. The program is a little buggy, and I was ready to quit until it told me I couldn’t have full credit for logging my lunch yesterday. For the first week, it gave me kudos for every little thing. Now, I have to eat healthier in order to get full credit.
