Success Isn’t Complicated

I was recently listening to a Facebook Live session hosted by Jonathan Milligan from Blogging Your Passion. He was sharing about blogging success.

He stated something profound. Well, it was profound to me, at least. Jonathan Milligan said:

Success isn’t complicated.

At first glance, you may say Jonathan’s lost his mind. His quote about success seems crazy. But the success quote isn’t.

Take a moment. Digest what Jonathan shared in the Facebook Live session.

Is success difficult to achieve? Is it something you won’t be able to achieve?

I agree with Jonathan about success. Success isn’t complicated. Success can be very simple if you do a couple of things.

How To Make Success Less Complicated

The first thing you need to be successful is to know what success means to you. Success means so many different things to so many people. Knowing what success is to you is the first key in making success less complicated.

Document for yourself what would make you a success. Zig Ziglar used to tell the story of a man who came up to him with a desire to become like his boss. Zig asked the young man if his boss was really a success.

As the young man looked at his boss’ traits, he began to discover his boss wasn’t a success in life. He was a failure in the areas that mattered to the young man. After he saw this, he knew he needed to stop chasing after the “success” of his boss. He needed to figure out what success meant to him.

Tip #1 – Define success for yourself

The second thing you have to do to be successful is to follow one course until success. We will struggle with finding success because we lack focus. We begin to take one step towards success and then do an abrupt turnaround.

Our path to success looks more like a zig-zag than a straight course. We want to keep going to another area rather than follow the path we’ve set out for ourselves. We need to take 20 steps in the same direction instead of 1 step in 20 directions.

This causes us to go forward two steps and backward three steps. You won’t move forward if you don’t go in a consistent direction.

Tip #2 – Stop getting distracted

The last thing we’ll talk about today in achieving success is to make a plan to succeed. A plan helps you to know your way.

Do you have a plan to get to what you would consider success? By creating a success plan, you can begin to create a pathway to success.

You can work backward from what success looks like to the steps you need to take to be successful.

Tip #3 – Create a  success plan

Becoming successful isn’t complicated. Becoming successful is following a process you are willing to follow.

Be willing to define success. Look for ways to stop being distracted. Create a success plan.

As you begin following these steps, you will see yourself walking closer and closer to success. In no time, you will see success isn’t complicated.
