Dare To Serve

Our culture celebrates the Spotlight Leader. The leader is on stage – the spotlight is entirely on them – in short, it is all about them. This leader declares a new vision, has all the answers, and is a high achiever. We tolerate them being a bit self-absorbed because they are going places that we want to go; and if they are successful, we will be successful… or so we think.

We vaguely know there is another kind of leadership, Servant Leadership. This kind of leader is known for humility. They shun the spotlight and listen carefully to the people because they care deeply about the people. They make decisions that serve the people well. They give others credit. We wonder about these leaders. Can a servant leader really deliver superior performance results, or do nice guys finish last?

Cheryl Bachelder, former CEO of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., wants to put a new idea on the table. If you move yourself out of the spotlight and dare to serve others well, you will deliver superior performance results – and she’s got the experience to prove it. Listen in for an hour as she talks with Becky Robinson about the ideas that have shaped her own leadership journey, and make up the basis of her new book, Dare To Serve: How to Drive Superior Results by Serving Others.
