Reminders for the Dysfunctional

Rush through hiring decisions. Don't consider if people will fit in. Have outdated job descriptions. Assume that goals are clear. Never mention ethics. Reward the office politicians. Be rigid on the minor things and flexible on the major ones. Don't ask, guess. Keep reorganizing. Abandon anything that doesn't provide instant success. Pile the work on your best employees. Let the slugs coast. Judge people solely by how high their salary is. Kiss up and kick down. Let multi-tasking be the rule. Shoot messengers. Cultivate a culture of blame. Bury ideas in a maze of bureaucracy. Never commit. Turn "winging it" into an art form. Have lots of meetings. Focus on style. Neglect substance. Don't look beneath the surface. Label people. Cut no slack. Take no classes. Withhold information. Become isolated. Yell. Ridicule. Drive away good employees. Sulk.

Never forget: It's all about you.
