#leadershiptruth – Sometimes Your Mojo is a No Go

Sometimes I really don’t want to go to work. I love my company. I love my colleagues. I love my clients. But some days, I just don’t want to get out of bed and #adult. Sometimes my mojo is a no-go. ‘When you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.’ Bullshit. Sometimes, despite loving what you do, you’re going to have to suck it up and do things that you don’t love that much. Sometimes, you’ll find that you’ve been burning the candle at both ends; letting your mindfulness practices slip; skipping the gym and reaching for a slice of pizza one too many times in a week. Sometimes, you’ll find yourself picturing winning the lottery and heading off to a remote island where there’s no wi-fi.  When you’ve felt like you’ve lost your mojo, it’s the opportunity to step back and evaluate what’s gone out of balance. What about your work is giving you meaning and what does give you happiness? We are constantly evolving as human beings. It’s silly to think that the things that give us joy and energy today will be the same things tomorrow or in 1, 3 or 5 years. Periodically stepping back to see what we need to keep and what we need to change is an ongoing part of replenishing our mo-jo and getting the most out of life.

How’s your mojo?
