When Tributes Matter Most

My friend, Dave, married a woman from France and the distance made visits to his in-laws more difficult and expensive than they might have been otherwise. When his father-in-law became ill, Dave's wife wanted them to go and visit, but Dave demurred. Then his father-in-law called.

"Would you come for my funeral," the father-in-law asked.

"Of course," said Dave.

"Then come now, when I can enjoy it."
