- Make the shy feel welcome.
- Do something kind without being asked.
- Restrain your sarcasm.
- Pay attention to the other person.
- Stop making excuses.
- Don't expect others to be like you.
- Help the deserving.
- Do what's needed and then some.

There is a lot to be said for simply being nice without expectations....
It's such a pity more people don't see the benefits.
