If I had to say what book has most influenced my views on leadership, this book would be the Bible. There is so much wisdom packed into the Bible it’s hard to say another book.
From the wisdom of Solomon to David teaching us how to praise God to Nehemiah taking the initiative to rebuild Jerusalem, the Bible is packed with leadership examples.

The Bible is also a great place to go to for leadership inspiration. I’ve already shared encouraging Bible verses for leaders, Bible verses leaders need to memorize, and scary Bible verses for leaders.
These articles have only scratched the surface of the leadership wisdom found in the Bible. Today, we’re going to look at 10 more Bible verses for leaders.
More Bible Verses To Encourage You To Lead Well
1. James 4:10 – Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
Remember to not be boastful and proud. Rather, be humble before God. When you do this, He will lift you up. Seek to become humble before the Lord. It is at this point He will give you strength and joy.
2. Psalm 37:3-4 – Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
I love this Bible verse. This piece of scripture reminds me that when I delight in the Lord, He will give me the desires of my heart. It also reminds me to make sure my desires are right. If they’re not His desires, they shouldn’t be mine.
3. Luke 6:31 – Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.
This is one of those hard verses to live out but is essential for you to do as a good leader. We are commanded to treat others the same way we would want them to treat us.
Does this mean to do exactly what you want to be done unto you? I think it means that you need to treat others in a loving, compassionate way.
Do this and you will be a great leader. Do this and your team will return the favor and encourage you.
4. Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path.
Why do so many leaders go astray? This could be a key verse in preventing leadership trouble.
Instead of trusting in YOUR ways, trust in the Lord. Look for His ways. Follow and chase after them.
If you do this, the Lord will direct your path. He will make sure your feet are on solid ground. Give up on trusting yourself and begin trusting the Lord.
5. 2 Timothy 2:15 – Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
Can you see what this verse is telling us? If we study and present ourselves to God, we can be considered workers for Him and not be ashamed.
Whenever you’re feeling discouraged or like a fraud, look back to this piece of scripture. See if you’re living this out in your leadership.
If you’re not, course correct. If you are, stop feeling ashamed and like a fraud. You’re not. You’ve presented yourself to God and are approved.
6. Psalm 37:7 – Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
I can easily get caught up in the comparison game. I see other bloggers and authors doing more than I could ever think of. Jealousy creeps in and I get antsy. Yet, I should be patient before the Lord. I shouldn’t be chasing after the success of other people doing things their ways.
Most of us are this way. But listen to what the Bible tells us. Stop comparing yourself to others. Stop looking for the quick and easy win. Wait patiently. Do what God has called you to do.
This is what Biblical leaders will do.
7. Colossians 1:9-12 – For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
If you lead well, you will have people praying for you. They will surround you with their prayers and lift up your needs to Him.
Seek to live a life worthy of being called a follower of Christ. Doing so will give you the support you need to continue to lead well.
8. Hebrews 13:17 – Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as they who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.
Leadership can be hard. You may be trying to lead your team only to discover leading them is like herding cats: Impossible!
But God wants something different for you and I. He wants us to have followers who are willing to obey and submit to Godly leadership.
Isn’t that awesome? Lead in a Godly fashion and He will give you this.
9. Exodus 18:31 – But select capable men from all the people – men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain – and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.
Do you have a problem getting things done? Then look to Exodus 18:31 on a way to delegate tasks.
This Bible passage is about the way Moses should delegate the workload. You can use this as a guideline.
Be encouraged. There are men out there who fear God (like you do), are trustworthy, who hate dishonest gain. You can find these men. You can add them to your team.
10. Hebrews 13:7 – Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.
God is telling us that if we are to lead like Jesus, our teams will remember us. They will want to imitate us. They will see Christ through our actions.
Be a leader who exemplifies Christ. You can be a shining beacon to those you lead. More importantly, you can lead them to Christ.
