People Are Waiting To Hear From This Person

The Speak Up! Series

Psstt! I’ve got a little secret to tell you. I think you’ll want to hear what I have to say on this one.

I’ve heard rumblings that there’s someone people want to hear from. It didn’t come as a shock to me. However, you may be surprised when you discover who this person is.

When talking to other leaders, they’ve told me they want to hear from someone who:

  • Excels at their work
  • Is continually striving to learn
  • Implements what they learn
  • Continually reads new material
  • Likes to share how they’ve grown
  • Has helped other leaders evolve
  • Values others above themselves
  • Etc, etc…

The Person People Want To Hear From

That’s quite a list, isn’t it? This person sounds pretty special. And he is.

People want to hear from someone who is constantly learning, treats others well, and loves to help people succeed. Wouldn’t you?

But there’s something else about this person. You may not realize it but this person is someone close to you. Truth be told, you’re more than close to this person.

The person people want to hear from isn’t your wife. They also aren’t your father. They’re someone even closer than these people!

The person people want to hear from is YOU! That’s right. People want to hear from YOU!!!

Can you believe this? You can if you realize the value you hold within you.

It’s A Struggle To Believe

Let me tell you, I had a hard time believing this to be true when I started to blog. Who would want to hear from some punk that is writing online?

Yet, over time, I began to realize the truth. People did want to hear from me. They found value in what I had to share.

Over the years, I’ve received multiple letters thanking me for sharing my leadership insights. I’ve been invited to speak to audiences overseas. And much more.

Why? Because I had something to offer. Even when I didn’t think my voice mattered.

You may be in the same spot I was years ago. You may believe your voice is no different than the next person.

You’d be wrong to assume this. Your voice is unique and special. Your voice will resonate with someone that other people cannot reach.

This means something. This means you have to start speaking up. People want to hear from you. Let them hear from you.

How To Be Heard

There’s a plethora of ways you can be heard. That’s the awesome part of living in this time. We are offered multiple platforms to share our knowledge.

You can be heard by:

  • Starting a blog
  • Speaking up during a meeting
  • Creating a podcast
  • Writing a book
  • Sharing at a Ted Talk
  • Making YouTube training videos
  • Talking with your wife and children
  • Sending an email to your email list
  • Developing an online course

There’s more ways than this to let your voice be heard. However, this is a starting point for you. Look at these options and choose one you think may work for you.

Begin working at letting your voice be heard through one of these platforms. When you’re comfortable speaking up through that platform, look at the next platform to take. Then the next and the next…
