An improving economy brings a changing dynamic in the workplace. The talent begins to run for the door to seek other employment opportunities.  Employee turnover has real costs for an organization and losing a talented employee harms productivity.  Employee turnover takes on another dynamic when it is management turnover. When the employee leaving is a talented manager who knows both how to get things done and how to work well with people, the turnover costs to an organization are even higher. This alone is sufficient reason for higher level managers to take steps to reduce employee turnover and to make sure that they pay attention to the needs of their management team.
