Unwrap Christmas – Gift of Forgiveness

Jesus came to be a Savior! As we unwrap the presents of Christmas this week, we must not forget the wonderful gift of forgiveness!

I read a sign once that went something like this:

  • If we had needed healing, God would have sent a Physician.
  • If we had needed knowledge, God would have sent an Educator.
  • If we had needed information, God would have sent a Scientist.
  • If we had needed money, God would have sent a Banker.

But, we needed forgiveness, so God sent a Savior!

The greatest need you and I have is to be forgiven! Sin, or disobeying God, is that plague that keeps us away from experiencing all the blessings He has for us. Sin seperates us from God. Only through the precious mercy and grace of Jesus Christ can we receive the forgiveness which makes us whole again and right with God. Without forgiveness there would be no Heaven for you and me.

Thank God that is not the end of the story! Christmas should remind us that on that crisp, clear night in Bethlehem, a child was born. That infant laid in the feeding tray was more than just a miracle birth, He was the one who would save His people from their sins! He was Emmanuel:God with us! He was our Kinsman Redeemer!

In my christian life I have seen countless people struggle in the area of forgiveness. Often they can’t imagine how God could offer them such redemption. Dear friend, I don’t know the worst of you. I don’t know the dark side of your past. What I do know is that Jesus is able…and willing…to forgive you of all that you have ever done wrong. You have not gone too far for Him to reach you. Take one step and He’ll take ten thousand (or more).

One of the greatest gifts of Christmas is forgiveness. You and I needed a Savior! And that’s just Who we got…His name is Jesus and we celebrate His birth at Christmas!

Don’t leave this gift under the tree!
