If your emotional abilities aren’t in hand, if you don’t have self-awareness, if you are not able to manage your distressing emotions, if you can’t have empathy and have effective relationships, then no matter how smart you are, you are not going to get very far.—Daniel Goleman
My thoughts:
Mental intelligence and technical skills will only take you so far in leadership. Emotional intelligence will take you farther. The ability to control and manage your own emotions and also control and manage other people’s emotions is an invaluable skill. Keep practicing it until you learn it. We’re never too old to learn how to be emotionally intelligent.
