Kids in Candy Stores vs Entrepreneurs at Trade Shows

I do a weekly report to my board (this is good discipline) and in it I said "for an entrepreneur, a trade show is like a kid in a candy store". I had the privilege of going to a trade show in Frankfurt. I have to so much restrain myself. The challenge with me, is I have far more ideas than time and resources to implement or to implement well.

I read a great book - Startup Leadership - How Savvy Entrepreneurs Turn their Ideas into Successful Enterprises. I loved the book purpose "to help entrepreneurs succeed". The better an entrepreneur knows themselves, the more likely they are to succeed. The final chapter speaks of "selfless acts of entrepreneurism".

Basil Peters, a famous angel investor wrote a book Early Exits - Exit Strategies for Entrepreneurs and Angel Investors (and maybe not VCs). The theory is VCs muddy the water because they tend to want to big win and push the entrepreneurs to hold on for the big exit often to the point of having the business fail. I like the theory.

A recent article in Entrepreneur magazine underscored how important reading is. I have always known reading was good and audiobooks are great. I have also known TV can often cut into reading time. It can be so much of a temptation that I do not even own a TV. I can easily consume 3-4 books in under an hour there.
