I read a book by John Blakey - The Trusted Executive - Nine Leadership Habits that Inspire Results, Relationships and Reputation. The book leads with a section on why executives want to be trusted. I know self knowledge is a key to good leadership and suspect that helps a lot with being trusted.

I read Linda Henman's book " Landing in the Executive Chair - How to Excel in the Hot Seat ". She talks a bit about working your way through the ranks and the difference between being a CEO and a different senior executive. Henman includes in her book many of the popular studies that have been used in leadership books.

I read a book " The Intangibles of Leadership - The 10 Qualities of Superior Executive Performance " by Richard Davis. I am a big believer that leadership is mostly about intangibles. The first intangible is wisdom. these conceptions of wisdom miss the mark. One of the intangibles is Fortitude.

And I am way behind on my book reviews so a short one: Gary Burnison wrote The Twelve Absolutes of Leadership. It seems logical he would know a thing or two about leadership not just because he runs his own company but as a recruiter, he would have seen hundreds of leaders. 3 - Strategy - In the end, it is all about execution.

The former (tea) is just poor execution and the latter (no plug) is poor planning. It takes great planning and great execution to succeed in business. ++ I read a short book - " It's Not About You - A Little Story About What Matters Most in Business " by Bob Burg and David Mann. There was no regular tea in the room. Build your People.
