Godin on Trust

Here's Seth Godin on where trust comes from. An excerpt:

We trust people because they showed up when it wasn't convenient, because they told the truth when it was easier to lie and because they kept a promise when they could have gotten away with breaking it.

Well said, and the opposite side is that mistrust is built when we don't show up even when it was convenient, lie even when the truth is better, and break promises for no reason. I have worked with a few such office sociopaths in my day, and hope never to have to again.

Dan,

I often have to remind clients that most sociopaths have jobs.
