When you take ownership, both for yourself and the situation, you intentionally move toward influence. You have to do something (even if you’re only serving as a bad example).

I did appreciate how Garfinkle brought the concept of leadership up again later in the book as he related it to the level of one’s influence. But his methodology is not simplistic at all.
