The second question has to do with church leadership. Do you expect them to accept you only on the basis of your abilities? Do you differentiate the two “triangles” of life? For better or for worse, a church will tend to take on the heart and soul of its pastor.

Strengths-Based Ministry

So, we know that people operate best when they are operating out of their strengths. Do we make them think they can only serve God, or operate in ministry if they can serve (greet, cut grass, etc.), We have people in the church from every strength. There are people in our congregations who have natural strengths.

Permission is from those who follow, but for me they have also been by way of a lid-lifter – someone who can help me lift my own lids and societal lids to operate in the giftings I have.

When I explain the model of church leadership I’m working on , some people realize right away that it takes away the hierarchy. A senior pastor who understands his/her giftings will work from strengths and find other people who are gifted to operate where the senior pastor has weaknesses.
