“The most successful companies and businesses understand that their greatest asset is their people. When businesses take care of their people the businesses and their people thrive. When they don’t take careof this incredibly valuable resource, they lose it. Fast.”

What approach do you take to life? Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? Or are you one of those who sees the glass as completely full no matter how much water it contains?

In his new book Live on Purpose Through PATHOLOGICAL POSITIVITY, author Dr. Paul Jenkins gives the prescription to create and live the healthy, happy and successful life you love. By the end of this book you will see your life as completely full (see page 95 for the details).Pathological Positivity

How does the commitment to positivity improve our immediate circumstances, improve our lives, improve our leadership? Our attitude towards every aspect of our lives and everything we do is the key to our success. “We feel successful as soon as we appreciate what is and see what is to be as even better.“ Our success increases and the accomplishments of those around us—especially those we lead—improves quickly.

The first part of the book delves into the pathologically positive evaluaton, helping us understand our approach to life. It brings to the forefront important concepts that will give you deep insight into how you think about the key aspects of your life. It focuses on what is. A clear example of how this works is illuminated in chapter 10, propportunity, which teaches us how to turn problems into opportunities

The second part focuses on pathologically positive creation or the creation of what will be. It details a process through which we all must travel to achieve success:

  • Discontent: Something happens—pain, dissatisfaction, hunger, yearning, wishing, hoping, or just imagining—that drives us to do something, to take action.
  • Choice: We choose whether to view our situation in victim mode or agent A victim asks “why me?” An agent asks “why not me?”
  • Question: We question. We ask positive, constructive questions that help us to carefully evaluate the situation and focus on the positive.
  • Plan: We plan. Everything that is intentionally created existed first as a plan.
  • Work: We get to work. We transfer energy into force.
  • Manifest: We satisfy our discontent by manifesting that which we have chosen to create. We face problems, and work constructively on solutions.

This process helps us evaluate what is in our lives and create what is to be in the future. We create and live the life we love. We lead with confidence and vision, helping other people create success. We lead on purpose.

I highly recommend you buy a copy of this book; that you read it, study it, mark it up and put it to use immediately. It’s fun and easy-to-understand. It will change your life. In addition to the link above you can also find Pathological Positivity on Amazon.

The Product Management Perspective: The pathologically positive process has been a part of my life for more than eight years. This is what drove me to start Lead on Purpose. It has driven me to succeed as a product manager and leader of product managers. It is now encapsulated very nicely in a book that will change your life and help you increase your success. Whether in product management or in any other career, this book will change your life.

Full disclosure: Dr. Paul Jenkins (‘Dr. Paul’) is a long-time personal friend and mentor. He has helped my family and me in many ways that go far beyond what I could ever express in writing in a public forum.
