Positive Omission

We often think of the failures produced by one omission or another; e.g. I should have gotten that degree or I should have taken that job.

We should also consider the successes produced by omission, such as avoidance of the problems we never experienced as well as the achievements that stemmed from that positive omission.

And who is to say that the job we think we should have taken would have ultimately turned out best for us?
