Role-Playing: A Modest Proposal

Role-playing is often used in management training. Sometimes, it is even effective.

Let's consider how role-playing could provide indirect training in the course of the workday. Some examples:

  1. Purchasing Officers. In a fictitious scenario, give the purchasing officers responsibility for a small company. Let them prepare a response to one of a standard Request for Proposal that they've sent out.
  2. Human Resources Professionals. Let them pretend to be a job applicant and complete the paperwork to apply for three jobs with the organization.
  3. Chief Executive Officers. Have them call their company's front desk in order to get assistance on a complicated customer service request or complaint.
  4. Other examples?
