I know travel has a huge amount of the worst kind of shadow work. CBC did a piece on how bad air travel is. They save Shadow Work usually. They are faster than waiting in line for a teller. Although they tend to have less personality (hopefully). They did not even factor in the Shadow Work of booking it in the first place.

Lots of gardening after a busy travel week last week. Leeks, squash, basil, tomatoes, beets, carrots, parsnips, beans all abound. I have been traveling a lot lately and have been highly frustrated with the process (so you know I was not flying private). It starts with driving to the airport. Indeterminate traffic/drive. Wasted 25 minutes for traffic. Then navigating the maze to find parking. Then line after line. 20 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day.

I am just back from travel. I stayed in a Delta Hotel. Delta is a midsize middle to high end Canadian hotel chain. The missed on 2 counts this time. There was no regular tea in the room. Bigger and tougher to solve, there was no easy way to plug in the iron. The former (tea) is just poor execution and the latter (no plug) is poor planning.

My 4:30 Flight yesterday was cancelled so I rebooked on the 6:30 which was also cancelled (the glamour of business travel). So could not make my board meeting today in person. And worse, I had another meeting scheduled that I was so much looking forward to. So I was upset.

In addition to the business story, it intersperses stories of his travel and the people he met. Blake did not like the way it was run so at age 85 became a dissident shareholder, bought stock, sued the company etc. In the end it sold and was a happy ending. I love that it is only 111 pages.

Email, meetings, travel and call volume have all been much lower than usual. It is gorgeous out this morning. The snow is still clean, the air is brisk. The stars are bright but fading. Beautiful. I have really enjoyed this past week. I notice my pace has dropped. It is in these periods of low rush that my creativity tends to be the highest.
