Business Travel Essentials

I was reviewing some business travel essentials the other day. Among them are:

  • NyQuil. Great for gaining some serious sleep in a strange bed.
  • At least one novel. You can't read about business all of the time. Years ago I discovered that an Elmore Leonard novel was the length of one flight from Phoenix to New York City.
  • Almonds. In case you get stranded.
  • Pepto-Bismol tablets. In case your stomach gets weird.
  • Crossword puzzle. Some mind exercise. I bought a crossword puzzle book at Barnes & Noble the other day. Later learned it was published in Australia. That explained all of the cricket references.
  • Starbucks canned espresso. Small with a lot of punch.
Your nominees?

Michael, How much do you know about cricket?

I like to have a torch, pocket knife and sewing kit, spare shoe laces, a spare credit card and some hidden cash.

Once in a Hotel Room, I always remove and wash the air conditioning filter, usually in the shower, they are always putrid and work so much better after a clean.

Bob,

I know nothing about cricket.

I do carry a small Swiss Army knife.

Wow, I never thought about the filter or the spare shoe laces.

Advil and Imodium. Travel essentials and you will pay dearly if you buy in those small quantities. Also, I carry spare pair of contact lenses and a mini sewing kit.

The sewing kit and Swiss Army knife were always with me, and I learned the lesson of leaving without Imodium. It is now part of the permanent package.
