In this time of unrest and change, the role of Emotional Intelligence (EI) in leadership has emerged as the critical skill set for leaders. EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) still matters as does the P&L (profit and loss statement) and the deadline for 2021 projections (who can imagine?!)

Controlling one's emotions is part and parcel of emotional intelligence. And, emotional intelligence has been linked to successful leadership (just did a paper on this for a university class). In fact, emotional intelligence is viewed by some as a better predictor of success than the old hallmark, IQ.

These two qualities, in my opinion doesn't require any sill or talent and one needs to possess a high level of emotional intelligence to be able to demonstrate calmness and tranquility when others are going haywire. mikemyatt: A leaders Intellect should not be a depreci. Regular meditation and all the skills it improves – focus, concentration, mindfulness, patience, stress resiliency, emotional intelligence, and more – has been a massive game changer for me. Cars that depreciate and have almost no value in a few years. Keeping a good sleep hygiene.
