How to Keep Energy Levels High

It’s summertime and whether you are working from home or back in the office, there’s a certain summer fatigue that comes about as the temperature shoots up. If you’re feeling zapped of energy and a little lethargic (despite air-conditioning and coffee!) you aren’t alone.

So, how do you keep your energy levels high when you just aren’t feeling it? Here are five easy tips for getting your productivity mojo back.

1. Stay Hydrated

One of the main causes of feel sluggish in the hot weather is dehydration, so keeping yourself and your team refreshed and well-watered can provide a much-needed energy boost. Here at The Roundtable, all team members have Roundtable bedazzled water bottles as a reminder to drink water throughout the day.

2. Encourage Frequent Breaks

You and your team members benefit from short frequent breaks. Research has proven that taking 15-minute breaks every 90 minutes helps to reenergize you and help increase productivity. Typically, most people aren’t capable of truly focusing for more than an hour and a half at a time.

3. Consider a 4-Day Week

4. Walk About

Moving your body can improve your mood and boost energy levels. A brisk walk can do wonders, and better yet, plan a walking meeting with your colleague(s) to get down to business while getting a little gentle exercise.

5. Take a Lunch

Fewer than 20% of workers regularly step away for lunch, and 39% usually eat at their desks, according to a survey done by Right Management. As they say, a change is as good as a rest, so step away from your desk and go have a healthy lunch. Bonus tip: Eating smaller portions of food throughout the day is great for your energy levels. So by eating a mid-morning snack, light lunch and mid-afternoon snack, it means you always have food in your system to give you energy.
