How Children Succeed & The Energy Bus – Coming for the December First Friday Book Synopsis

Now that we have concluded the November First Friday Book Synopsis (I presented Nate Silver’s The Signal and The Noise; Karl Krayer presented his synopsis of Teaming by Amy Edmonson.  The synopsis will be available for purchase soon, with audio + handouts, at our companion web site, 15minutebusinessbooks.com), we are planning for the December First Friday book Synopsis.

On December 7, I will present my synopsis of the new best-selling book, How Children Succeed:  Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character by Paul Tough.  This book may be about children, and parenting, and education…  but it is also about the qualities that make for a successful life as an adult.

While Karl Krayer is away, Larry James, the CEO of CitySquare (formerly Central Dallas Ministries), will present a synopsis of The Energy Bus:  10 Rules to Fuel Your Life, Work, and Team with Positive Energy by Jon Gordon.

In addition to our regular program, I will present an after program, one of our “bonus programs,” delivering my synopsis of The Working Poor:  Invisible in America, by Pulitzer Prize-Winning author David Shipler.  I speak two times each month at the Urban Engagement Book Club, sponsored by CitySquare, focusing on books on poverty, Social Justice, racism – subjects that deal with human need.   Following this synopsis, we will have a discussion about the work done by CitySquare in our community.  (This bonus program will cost $15.00 – all proceeds from the bonus program will go to CitySquare).

You will be able to register soon for both our regular program, and the bonus program, from the home page of this web site.  (Click on the image below for a larger view of the December flier).
