I Screwed Up
Sometimes when you try to fix a mistake you make things worse.
Yesterday, I put the wrong month in WordPress when I scheduled today’s post. I quickly corrected the date. The effect was everyone saw a partial blog post and a link that didn’t work.
This morning, the blog post published but the email notification didn’t go out.
Here is the correct link to 3 WAYS TO RESPOND TO FAILURE: GET A BIGGER NAIL
I want to provide great content without sending gobs of email messages to subscribers. I apologize for the inconvenience.
I believe the ‘Get a Bigger Nail’ post is useful. Take a look: 3 WAYS TO RESPOND TO FAILURE: GET A BIGGER NAIL
I wish you well,
Dan
PS Thank you to everyone who let me know the first link didn’t work.
When I tried to read yesterday’s blog, I honestly had a small chuckle and thought ‘Dan is going to use this as an example!’
I appreciate your blog. It’s thought inspired!
Unintentional example. 🙂 Thanks Jan.
Making mistakes is inevitable. How one deals with them says everything about a person. And you dealt with it exactly as expected – with humility, grace, and aplomb. Keep up the great posts!
Thanks Bill. I must admit that what I feel on the inside isn’t always so humble or graceful. Cheers
Dare you admit that you are human! Just like the rest of us. Yet, if you didn’t feel that way on the inside, it would indicate that you didn’t care. You (and I!) feel bad about the mistakes because we care greatly.
Dan,
Perhaps this event can also be the subject of a post – in my line of work, I am considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME), so when I admit failure, it shows everyone that I am not infalable and that I still have something to learn from others and circumstance. I learned over time that being an SME does not mean “Ivory Tower” edicts but a sharing of best practices, and mistakes are part of the human condition. Guru does not mean god.
Wonderful application, Jim. It’s easy to start thinking we have all the answers. That’s when learning stops, not a good place to be. 🙂
It happens!
Yes ‘it’ does. Cheers.
Thanks for being visibly fallible Dan. It’s such a gift to the rest of us to know we are not alone!
Thanks Mark. There are lots of ways to connect. The human level is most important. Cheers
So true Dan! You just put your finger on my life goal: helping people connect as unique human beings! Thanks for doing the same!
Thank you for correcting. I thoroughly enjoy your posts, so keep it up. 🙂
Thanks Momni Cafe News. I wish you well.
No worries Mr. Rockwell 😃 we all make mistakes. Even in this blog there’s a lesson. Keep up the good work!!
Thank You
Marvin
Thanks Marvin. Yes, we all make mistakes. Funny how that is. Thanks for the good word.
Thank you for re-sending 🙂
