Courageous leaders align their values with their behaviors.
Being aware of who you truly are and what you want to be to others is critical to knowing when taking a stand is necessary.
Values are the driving motivation behind our behaviors. They are the why we choose to act in a certain way. Research shows that from early on in our development, we start learning right from wrong and begin making decisions about what is important to us.
Values are both actual and aspirational.
What we are motivated by and act on now, and what we would like to be and act on as we evolve to shape our leadership capacity.
Values serve an important purpose for leaders.
They provide a strategic road map for the vitally important to seemingly mundane everyday decisions.
We often emulate behaviors we see in others, another big reason for leading with values in the workplace.
When we are conscious of what is important to us, our conscious and subconscious mind finds the important elements in our environment to assist us in living our values. When we are clear about what is important to us, we put our conscious and subconscious to looking for the people and things around us that will support living our values.
