For some people, career development is about having a clear idea of a dream role and doggedly working to make it real. Others prefer to remain open to opportunity, and to look for the personal resonance in the doors that open as a result.

Chris Lovell CMgr MCMI did the latter – very successfully. 

In 2021, he was working as a store manager for Co-op. Through the company’s learning and development portal, he became aware of the Level 6 Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA).

He knew he wanted a change, but that’s about as concrete as it got. He certainly couldn’t foresee where the CMDA path would soon lead him – into a new career as a university lecturer.
