High performance and disengaged staff do not go hand-in-hand.

Just 13% of workers across Europe feel engaged at work, according to Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace 2023 Report. Having 87% of your staff feeling disengaged is not just an economic waste, it is also a human tragedy.

These findings are a challenge to the motivation industry, which has grown relentlessly since Abraham Maslow published his defining 1943 paper “A Theory of Human Motivation”. In the US, professional motivational speakers make up a $1.9bn industry. The evidence is that they collectively score “F” for fail. 

Something has to change.
