Flash Boys by Michael Lewis; Talk Like TED by Carmine Gallo – coming for the May 2, 2014 First Friday Book Synopsis

This morning, we began our 17th year of the First Friday Book Synopsis. We had a full room — and a room full of life-long learners. Thanks to all who make our event a success.

I presented my synopsis of (XLR8) Accelerate: Building Strategic Agility for a Faster-Moving Worldby John P. Kotter. And Karl Krayer presented his synopsis of Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don’t by Simon Sinek.

{We will have our synopses available soon on our companion web site, 15minutebusinessbooks.com. Each synopsis comes with the audio recording of our presentations, plus our multi-page, comprehensive handouts.

For next month, May 2, we will present synopses of two terrific new books. I will present my synopsis of the new book by Michael Lewis, Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt. Michael Lewis has been on 60 Minutes about his new book, along with numerous television and radio programs (great interview with Terry Gross, on Fresh Air:  On A ‘Rigged’ Wall Street, Milliseconds Make All The Difference).  In other words, this book is being discussed just about… everywhere!

And Karl Krayer will present his synopsis of Talk Like Ted: The 9 Public-Speaking Secret’s of the World’s Top Minds by Carmine Gallo. TED has become such a major and influential part of our contemporary culture. This book looks at some of the secrets of the successful TED speakers.

You will be able to register soon for our May 2 gathering from this blog and website.

Here’s the flier. Please take a look, and if you are in the DFW area, come join us for another session of good books, good food, and good conversations.
