This stage is the last one identified by Maslow''s hierarchy of needs but other researchers and thinkers have established with a fair amount of confidence that evolution doesn''t stop there.

Abraham Maslow said that one of the fundamental needs of human beings is “Esteem” – a desire to be accepted and valued by others. I think managers tend to focus on the Freudian concept of motivation (carrot/stick) vs. Maslow’s concept of creating an environment that allows people to be their best. Leverage their strengths.

On Sunday, I took 75 pictures; because of a light wind and the sun’s travels across the sky, perhaps five of those were true &# keepers&#. The movement of the sun as I’m waiting for the wind to die down can change the perfect shadows on the object I’m capturing, sending it into darkness, rendering the shot useless.

Research is showing that the heart can learn and send out dopamine (a pleasure chemical that influences behavior) and oxytocin (a chemical associated with the feeling of love).
