Within the company, I was fortunate to have a few outstanding mentors including CFO Fred Shaffer, who recruited me in 1971, two successive CEOs Vince Gregory and Larry Wilson, and head of European Operations, Dr. Basil Vassiliou. Expand the traditional notion of mentoring. It took time and both internal and external intervention.
