Even With Fewer Organizational Layers You Still Need Structure

Organizations want relatively flat organization structures so that they can be proactive and effectively adapt and respond to changes in their marketplace, and the regulatory, technical and political environments in which they operate. However, with less organizational hierarchy, i.e. managers and coordinators, there is an increased need to have basic processes and protocols in place; i.e. structured operational approaches for doing the organization’s work.
