Save the Date! CCN to Sponsor Domestic Violence Workshop on October 21

Save the date!

I am excited to announce that Creative Communication Network will sponsor a half-day workshop on Domestic Violence this fall.  The exact date is Friday, October 21, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.  This is purple shirt day.  We will meet at First United Methodist Church in Garland, Texas.

The exact title is “The State of Affairs in Domestic Violence.”  I will be the host and moderator for the session, which features expert speakers on a variety of topics.

This is also the charity recipient for the First Friday Book Synopsis at the Park City Club in Dallas on Friday, October 7.  We will collect donations to the New Beginning Center, which is an agency in Garland that supports victims of domestic violence.

The conference is targeted for these purposes:

  • Leave informed – You will hear trends, updates, problems, progress, and opportunities.
  • Consider for yourself – Are we winning the war against Domestic Violence?
  • Hear from expert speakers who are involved in a variety of interventions.

The program is as follows:

Corporate Interventions in Domestic Violence – Kathryn Klepak, Director of Human Resources – City of Garland

Community Responses to Domestic Violence – Erin Kincaid, Manager of Community Education, New Beginning Center

Educational and Faith-Based Interventions in Domestic Violence – Monique Herrera, Community Educator, New Beginning Center

Law Enforcement Interventions in Domestic Violence – Wayne Sherriff, Detective for Domestic Investigations and Sex Crimes – City of Garland

Victim Interventions – “Four Ways it Ends With You” – Carmen Coreas, Creative Communication Network

We will also end with a forum discussion, where participants can ask questions of the speakers.

Stay tuned!  Registration information will be available shortly on a variety of web sites.

ADMISSION IS BY VOLUNTARY DONATIONS TO BENEFIT THE NEW BEGINNING CENTER
