Gut instincts can only take you so far in life, and anyone who operates outside of a sound decisioning framework will eventually fall prey to an act of oversight, misinformation, misunderstanding, manipulation, impulsivity or some other negative influencing factor. Also, a common response is to confuse a sales engine, fulfillment process, operational process, technology platform, or any number of other areas as business models, where this is not the case. Fear based motivations don’t instill loyalty, create trust, build morale, inspire creativity, attract talent, or drive innovation. Sad but true…real talent won’t be attracted to, or remain engaged with leaders who operate on fear-based tactics. Remember that respect is earned, and fear is imposed.

If you cannot turn an idea into innovation, if you can’t put thought into practice, it’s not a game changer. The churches I had previously worked with operated from the the philosophy this is church, and if people want it they will come. If it’s not really meaningful, it’s not a game changer so why do it? Focus on value creation.
