Our customer experience has always been positive. I’ve spoken with Jim Sinegal, Costco’s co-founder and CEO from 1983 to 2011, and interacted with Ryan Watkins, a young Costco warehouse manager across the country in Oregon. Because Costco deliberately lives out these aspirations, its reputation is stellar.

One thing that always works for me is to share a positive, enthusiastic attitude. Whenever I feel down, or when things aren’t going my way , I try to instantly turn that around with a smile, a fun comment, or a positive action. Boss - Come in Monday with more energy and positivity than you’ve ever brought to work.

P.S. Hope I haven’t offended anyone by possibly positioning my post badly around women or men – not trying to be sexist here, just exhibiting a point. I remember that the boys who were gentlemen got the best girls in the end because they were gentlemen, and didn’t have the reputation for being bastards.

Nothing can claim more tainted professional reputations, destroyed friendships, and polluted corporate cultures than gossip. They would take the position that gossip is just part of human nature, and that gossip will always exist in any type of environment where social dynamics are present.

Let me make my position very clear…design absolutely matters. While this position may seem a bit harsh, it is nonetheless true. I could go on ad nauseum with similar questions, but my guess is that you get my point… Now let’s examine the flip-side of the coin by looking at the positives associated with strong design.

Leaders and non-leaders alike need career-pathing, training and development. Organizations short on leadership talent find themselves in such a position for a reason… current leadership failed to lead. Identifying leaders? Have we really degenerated to this point?
