Great leaders are strategic thinkers who have the ability to translate their vision into an actionable strategy to insure its success. I believe that leaders should also be able to create an environment of trust wherein employees feel empowered. Perhaps results should be filled out someone other than the leader. The article reports that in a study conducted earlier this year by the insurer, Lloyds, the crew of the Deepwater Horizon rig that exploded in the Gulf of Mexico had significant and ongoing concerns about the safety of the rig. In either case, Id love to hear your thoughts over the next few days.

The Environment : What should be obvious, but what is often overlooked, is the importance of having your board members look forward to the meeting. If you conduct yourself professionally, and let your board members be white knights, the down-stream communications that follow your meeting will advance your cause as opposed to undermine it.
