You’ve seen the lists: 2011 Top Companies for Leaders. When I would track the performance of participants after the program, there’s always a handful that somehow manage to implement the new behaviors or skills and achieve positive results, despite having to overcome all of the exact same barriers as the rest of their peers.

It is not easy to remember the importance of rewarding your team continuously with praise and acknowledgement of milestones achieved, especially while you’re steering an organization to an endpoint over the horizon. As a leader, you must have confidence in your own ability, but most important in your team. So too it is with leadership.
