Shiller hammered away on this point in the ‘80s, and in fact Fama also published some of the same observations. Lars’s guys are irrational in a level-headed way, and Bob Shiller’s guys are irrational in a way that is subject to these social fads and fashions. They tend to be followed by declining prices.
