As an example, the marketing assistant who receives a comparatively small bonus when contrasted to that of a sales person feels that his/her contribution is minimized and feels treated unfairly. Not recognizing, developing, and rewarding talent is the fastest way I know of to drive talent out of your organization and directly into the hands of your competition. Not Customer Focused : Leaders not attuned to the needs of the market will fail. I am a firm believer that even when certain traits are not present they can be acquired, developed and refined so long as one thing is present – the desire to do so. Bottom line – leaders who build a static business doom themselves to failure.
