If you crush the individual character and spirit of those who form your team, how can your team operate at its best? Respect is earned by honoring commitments and doing the right thing regardless of opinion, sentiment, or influence. The strongest teams don’t weed out or neutralize individual tendencies, they capitalize on them.

Actually, as a church planter and revitalizer, I’ve probably referred people to New Life (and a video of their work I keep bookmarked) as much as any other church. Banks don’t operate like that anymore. The fact is, we didn’t just stop influencing the bankers — we stopped influencing our communities.
